Handouts Management
Overview
The Handouts Management feature allows faculty members to upload and distribute study materials to students efficiently. This tool enables instructors to organize educational resources by units and topics, making it easy for students to access relevant materials through both web and mobile platforms.

Navigation Path
Web Interface Access:
- Navigate to UMS >> My Courses
- Click View > for the desired classroom
- Select Handouts from the submenu
Adding Handouts
Step 1: Create New Handout
- Faculty must have access to the specific course
- Ensure you're in the correct classroom before adding handouts
Follow these steps to add a new handout:
- Click + Add Handouts button
- Enter the Title for your handout (e.g., "Lecture Notes - Chapter 1")
- Select the appropriate Unit from the dropdown menu
- Specify the Topic the handout addresses
- Click Choose File to upload your document (PDF, DOC, PPT supported)
- Add any relevant External Links for supplementary resources
- Click Add Handout to save and publish
Step 2: Managing Existing Handouts
To edit or remove handouts:
- Locate the handout in the handouts table
- Use the Actions column to:
- Edit: Modify title, unit, topic, or files
- Delete: Remove the handout permanently
Student & Faculty App Integration
Student App Access
Handouts automatically appear in the Student App under: Learning Management >> Courses >> Resources
Faculty App Access
Faculty can view and manage handouts through: Academics >> [Subject Name] >> Resources
All handouts uploaded via the web interface are automatically synchronized and available across all platforms within minutes.

After successfully adding handouts, you should see:
- Immediate Availability: Handouts appear in the classroom handouts table
- Student Access: Students can view and download materials through their app
- Organized Display: Materials are properly categorized by unit and topic
- File Integration: Uploaded files are accessible with a single click
- Mobile Compatibility: All handouts work seamlessly on mobile devices
Important Notes
- Supported Formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX
- File Size Limit: Maximum 10MB per file
- Naming Convention: Use descriptive filenames for better organization
- Consistent Naming: Use clear, descriptive titles for easy identification
- Unit Organization: Always assign handouts to the correct unit
- Regular Updates: Keep handouts current and remove outdated materials
- External Links: Verify that external URLs are accessible to students
