- ABC Id: Academic Bank of Credits - established on the lines of the National Academic Depository (NAD). Credits awarded to a student from an institution may be transferred by another [https://www.abc.gov.in/]
- Academics: Of relating to schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions; especially, fields of study
- AICTE: All India Council for Technical Education - a premier national-level body in India that manages technical education [https://www.aicte-india.org/]
- Alumnus (pl. alumni): Graduate/former student/member of a particular educational institution, group, or organization
- Analytics: The output of systematic computational analysis of data or statistics
- APAAR Id: Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry - a unique and permanent 12-digit ID assigned to every student, offering a comprehensive record of their academic achievements [https://apaar.education.gov.in/]
- Audit: Examine carefully with the intent of verification; to prevent fraud

- Backlog: A failed exam or a subject that could not be cleared in the first attempt
- Barcode: A machine-readable code that consists of bars and spaces of varying widths that represents data about a product, book, person, location, etc.
- Biometric (device): An electronic device that uses human physical characteristics (face shape, fingerprints, etc.) for personal identification

- Dashboard: An interface (mostly, the first interface upon logging into an application) for displaying various types of data in one place [Data is usually extracted from a linked database and presented on the Dashboard in the form of charts, tables, cards, etc.]
- Degree: Academic qualification awarded by a college or university to students who have completed a specific course of study; B. Tech./B.E., M. Tech., M.A., M.B.A., etc.

- ERP: Enterprise Resource Planning; a software system that helps businesses manage as well as streamline core processes and day-to-day activities in real-time
- Export: Transfer data from the Application into an external document such as Excel, PDF, Word, etc.

- Faculty: The body of teachers and administrators of an educational institution
- Favicon: An icon used to identify a particular website; to add to ‘Favourites’
- Form Validation: All mandatory fields ought to be filled up & correctly in the form; otherwise, the system will verify and throw errors if incorrect or incomplete entries

- Image Assets: The images or icons to be put in Header & Footer of the letterhead
- Import: Pull bulk data into the system (Application) from an external source [Data is displayed directly in the respective menu/submenu]

- Nominal Sheets: Specific documents used during examinations to ensure organization, security, accountability; examination seating plan, student signature sheet, invigilator signature sheet, question paper distribution sheet, answer script collection sheet

- OMR: Optical Mark Recognition, a technology used to read and interpret marks made on paper forms which is read by the OMR machine; OMR sheet scans darkened bubbles, converts them into digital data, compares those answers with the correct ones, and generates a score card
