Creating a Quiz in LMS

Overview

This guide walks you through the step-by-step process of creating a quiz in the CampX LMS. From setting up your question bank to publishing the quiz and assigning students, this workflow ensures a smooth quiz creation experience for faculty.

Step 1: Accessing the Subject LMS

Information
  • Quizzes are created inside a subject’s LMS. Each classroom has its own subjects and LMS instances.

Steps to Access Subject LMS

  1. Go to My Courses from the main menu.
  2. This will display the assigned classroom courses for the relevant faculty,
  3. Click on a Subject to view the LMS instance. Quizzes can be created here.

Step 2: Building your Question Bank

Information
  • Questions need to be published for configuring quiz questions.
  • You can reuse published questions across quizzes and subjects.

Steps to create questions in Question bank

  1. Navigate to the Questions tab inside the subject LMS.
  2. Click Add Question Bank and provide a Name and Description. Click on a Question bank to add Questions.
  3. Click Add New in a particular question bank to create a question manually by selecting a Question Type (e.g., Short-text, Multiple-choice, Fill in the Blanks, Single-choice).
  4. You can also choose to Import with Excel to upload in bulk.
  5. If importing, download the sample template, fill in the details, and upload.
  6. After questions are added, select them and click Publish to make them available for use in quizzes.

Step 3: Creating a Quiz

Information
  • Ensure that your question bank is ready and questions are published before configuring the quiz.

Steps to create a Quiz

  1. Navigate to the Quiz tab in the subject LMS.
  2. Click Add Quiz to open the quiz creation form.
  3. Fill in the quiz details in the form i.e., Name, Description, Start and End Time, Max Attempts, Max Marks.
  4. (Optional) Enable: Duration Restriction and enter time in minutes. Questions can also be shuffled if required.
  5. After questions are added, select them and click Publish to make them available for use in quizzes.

Step 4: Adding Questions to the Quiz

Information
  • Before You Begin You can only add published questions from the question bank to a quiz. Draft or unpublished questions will not be visible in the selection list.

Steps to Add Questions

  1. From the Quiz tab, click the View icon (👁) next to the quiz you created.
  2. Click + New Part to add a quiz part (you must create at least one part before adding questions).
  3. In the New Part popup, enter: Part Name, Description, Number of Questions, Marks per Question and Negative Marks per Question (if any)
  4. In a part, Click Add Question, You can filter question by selecting a Question bank, difficulty level or question type
  5. Select the required questions and click Add.
  6. The selected questions will now be included in the quiz under the chosen part.

Step 5: Adding Participants to the Quiz

  • You must add at least one student to the quiz before it can be published.

Steps to Add Participants

  1. After adding questions to the quiz, navigate to the Students tab.
  2. Select the students you want to include.
  3. Click Add to Participants. The selected students will now move to the Participants tab and will no longer appear in the Students tab.
  4. Repeat the process if you want to add more students.

Step 6: Publishing the Quiz

Information
  • A quiz will remain in Draft status until it's published. Students can access the quiz only after it is published.

Steps to Publish the Quiz

  1. After finalizing the participant list, review all quiz details — parts, questions, and participants.
  2. Click the Publish button at the top-right corner.
  3. The quiz will go live, and participants will receive access based on the configured start and end time.
