Configuring Assessment Rules
Overview
This article explains how to configure assessment rules for internal exams in the CampX system. The process includes defining assessment types, creating templates, and configuring assessment groups and subgroups to evaluate students' performance effectively.
Key Features
→ Define assessment types and templates to evaluate students' marks and assign grades.
→ Grouping and sub-grouping of assessment components for more complex evaluation structures.
- Define Assessment Types before creating assessment templates.
- Decide on the rules and criteria to apply for assessments.
Creating Assessment Types
- Assessment types will be used to configure assessment templates.
Steps to create assessment types
- Navigate to Assessment Types in UMS > Configuration > Assessments
- Click Add Assessment Type and enter a name for the new type.
- To make the type visible in relevant reports, check the box labeled “Show In The Students Reports.”
- Click Create Type to save the assessment type.
- To edit an existing assessment type, click the Edit icon. To delete, click the Delete icon.
Creating Assessment Templates
- Assessment templates are used to define a structured assessment of the student in a particular course.
- Created Assessment templates will be applicable to the Continuous internal evaluation of a course,
Step 1: Define Title
In the first step, enter a title for the assessment template. This helps identify the template in various modules.
Step 2: Add Assessment Types
In this step, you can add multiple assessment types that were created earlier. For each type, you must enter or select the following:
- Assessment Type: Select the type of assessment (e.g., Assignment, Quiz).
- Weightage: Enter the percentage weightage for this assessment in the final score.
- Max Marks: Specify the maximum marks for the assessment type.
- Pass Percentage: Enter the minimum passing percentage required.
- Assessments Conducted: Specify how many times this assessment will be conducted (e.g., 3 assignments).
- Assessments Graded: Define how many assessments will be graded (e.g., the best 2 out of 3).
- Score Calculation Type: Choose between Sum(Add up the scores of all assessments), Average (Take the average score of all assessments) or Percentage Calculation (Enter specific percentages for each graded assessment, ensuring they add up to 100%.)
- Users can add multiple assessment types as required to define the full evaluation process.
Step 3: Configure Groups (Optional)
For institutions that require multiple stages of internal evaluation (e.g., Internal 1 and Internal 2), users can configure groups. If not required, this step can be skipped. For each Group, you must enter or select the following:
- Group Name: Enter a name (e.g., Internal 1).
- Weightage: Define the weightage for the group.
- Considered Groups: Specify the number of subgroups that will be considered for evaluation.
- Score Calculation Type: Select the calculation method (Sum, Average, or Percentage).
- Add Subgroups: Within the group, create subgroups by adding assessment items defined in Step 2.
- An assessment type can only be part of one group.
- Multiple groups can be created based on institutional requirements.
- Once groups are configured, they are used in grading and evaluation.
- Configuring groups and subgroups is optional.
- Institutions may choose to group multiple templates into subgroups or skip this feature entirely.
